"This disease has manifested in more than half the population, and is continuously growing from our research. We ask for you to please report any suspicious behaviour such as: Floating objects, spontaneous combustion, people disappearing out of thin air, or anything else that is out of the ordinary to your local hotline."
Ten years have passed since the revelation of the supernatural, and the world has been in a state of panic. The government calls it a disease, something that can be cured. But as many have suspected, the government is lying to the entire population. The simple fact of the matter is that these extraordinary have advanced humanity in every way possible, just as humans advanced animals so many years ago. It is said that these new humans plan to take over from humans, and get rid of them to make room for themselves. And if not now, in the future.
This was how project Carroll was instituted. This project would assemble all of the extraordinary’s, and placed them in containment buildings all across the country. These people are placed in cell blocks depending on danger level, 10 being least dangerous, while 1 are the most dangerous. As the numbers go down, the cells become more isolated, some even become bulletproof, and they become much more protected as they close in on the Ones and the surrounding numbers. Ten through Six are normally allowed access outside of their cells, while the rest are to remain inside theirs at all time, and are not allowed to speak with others or face the consequences.
It is rumoured that the biggest facility in the Carroll project are testing their patients. Though the residents who Six’s and up have never been done this, they do wonder what happens to the lower numbers. Is this true? Everyone in the facility hates the people who placed them there, and all want to escape, but it has become apparent to them that they can’t simply make an escape plan for themselves, and leave the others to fates worst than theirs is. It is said that it is impossible to break out of Carrollton, but should that mean they shouldn’t try?
I decided to turn this into a sort of appless rp, due to the fact that I don’t have much time to review apps, and I honestly think it’s easier this way. The only thing you have to do is send me: Name of character, Age, danger level [6 to 10 only], ability, and FC in an ask. I’m hoping to make this a 3x3, though it can be expanded if it generates enough interest. It is not obligated to be even, it could me entirely female, or entirely male, etc.
A Chatzy will be provided for fleshing out the plot, and an OOC will be given later on so it’ll be easier to stay in contact.
Here are some ideas you can take for inspiration if you’d like: X

Name: Mila Adams
Ability: Lie Detection
- The ability to detect when a person is telling a lie.
- Limitations: Will only detect if someone actually believes its a lie.
- Street smart
"You’d be surprised how many honest men actually lie to your face everyday."
Mila grew up in Brooklyn, New York, raised by her aunt and uncle after her parents were gunned down in their own apartment when she was only three. Mila had always been good at telling who was lying to her. It was like a sixth sense, some would say. A super power. She was thirteen when she realized how true it actually was after she asked her aunt about her parents death, only to be lied too. Eventually she got the truth and realized that it wasn’t just a sixth sense. She had an ability. Her uncle was a police officer, working the mean streets of New York city with a lot of respect and experience on his back. As much as he tried to encourage Mila to do what was right, it didn’t stop her from going down a very dark path. Like any kid growing up in an environment like Brooklyn, Mila was pulled into a bad crowd. Skipping school, shop lifting, selling drugs. You name it, she did it. She never touched the stuff, however, she saw what it did to people and she didn’t want that for herself. She just wanted to do whatever she wanted and live as a free spirit.
Her “free” lifestyle didn’t last long, however. She was out with friends one night, driving around, causing trouble wherever they went, when the unthinkable happened. She and one of her friends had decided to shoplift at a liquor store when the owner pulled a gun on them both. Her friend pulled out a gun also, and at first sight of it, the store owner shot the girl dead while Mila watched. In a panic, Mila grabbed the gun and fired on the store owner, killing him instantly. Mila was on a one way trip to a juvenile detention center. However, right before she was transported to the detention center, all charges were suddenly dropped and her bail was paid by a mysterious benefactor. The only explanation she received was a single note that read “You owe us. Stay out of trouble. -N”. She went back home only to find that her aunt and uncle’s memories had been wiped of the entire incident. They just believed that her poor little friend got killed.
From then on, Mila straightened out. She started going to school, bringing up her grades, and even joined the police force when the time came, just like her uncle. She was only a year into the force when she got a call from none other than Jonathan Dexter with a proposition she couldn’t refuse. Work for Nexus Enterprises or suddenly have the entire miracle of her release undone and be sent to jail. It wasn’t hard to make a decision. She’s still a detective for the NYCPD, but she spends her nights and days off paying her debt to Nexus. They wanted to use her ability for their benefit and she would let them, as long as it kept her out of trouble and free. She hates working for Nexus, because she’s a post-human, but seeing as she has no choice, she grits her teeth and holds her tongue for fear of what Nexus might do.
Significant Event in Life:
Everyday, Mila wishes she had never left the house on the night of the liquor store shooting. She regrets even seeing it. That night she had had a fight with her aunt and uncle about her behavior and stormed out before anyone could chase her. She and some friends had decided it was a good idea to get a couple bottles of alcohol and get drunk for the night, and being who she was then, she went along with it. But while they were stealing it, the owner pulled a shotgun out on them. Her friend, a girl named Kayla who was younger than Mila at the time, pulled out a gun, but before she could pull the trigger, the owner pulled his. Mila watched her die on the floor of that liquor store. Thinking she was next, she grabbed the gun and shot the shocked store owner, fearing for her own life. That night, Mila lost a friend and took a life and she had regretted it ever since. She still has nightmares of the incident and wishes with every fiber of her being that she could go back and change it.

Name: Erica Jackson (aka Pestilence)
Ability: Disease manipulation
- The ability to control any germ, bacteria, or virus on a cellular level and invoke/control pests, locusts that spoil crops, and flies that carry disease
- Limits: Users may not be immune to their own diseases. Those with Healing, Rapid Cellular Regeneration, and Invulnerability may be immune to the user’s diseases, and maybe even provide a cure.
“Disease is God’s sympathy for those who are inferior and weak.”
Erica has come a long way from the shadows of her childhood. Orphaned at a young age, she grew up drifting between a few foster homes. She was someone who seemed to slip through the fingers of the system rather easily. It wasn’t a detriment to her, however. She was self-reliant, strong, and very good at reading the people around her. Being able to do so gave her a strong sense of confidence and purpose. It didn’t matter that she was left rather alone. The time by herself helped create a barrier that shielded her from the world, and shielded her from emotions-they couldn’t do much but get in the way. They could be addressed once in a while, in private. But overall, Erica left emotions behind to focus more on the bigger picture.
When her ability manifested, pieces seemed to fall in place in Erica’s head. Having such an ability, a gift from God himself, was merely the next step in human evolution. This belief was one she took to heart. No one was around to tell her otherwise. This belief carried over even to when she was captured by the Company. She was dubbed a threat due to the potential of being used for bioterrorism if she ever got into the wrong hands. She was poked and prodded at hours upon hours. Her days of being alone in the Company brought memories from when she was at the orphanage. She became reclusive and withdrawn for a period of time.
It wasn’t until she was approached by two other girls in the Company’s courtyard that she began to open up again. When Persephone (Death) joined in, she pushed Erica to break out of the shell that the Company built up for her. Erica slowly became the charismatic one within her little group. She was the one who was able to talk her way around everything. But the charms weren’t just for show. She got the guards to give the girls extra food and convince the other inmates to do their biddings for them. She sees the Four Horsemen as her family. It was the closest thing she has to one and she would do anything to keep them safe. She gives her all into every little mission she’s given and hopes to regain justice for those with special abilities who have been oppressed just because they’re misunderstood.
Significant Event in Life:
The first attempt to capture Erica by the Company was a fail. The two agents sent after her were newly inducted. The Company figured capturing a young teenaged girl would be simple enough for them to handle, and so the two of them followed the girl as she was on her way home from school. Being as inexperienced as they were, Erica noticed them from a distance but tried to keep calm hoping she was just paranoid. But once they got closer in on her, her ability kicked due to the adrenaline that rushed through her. She was able to call forth a swarm of flies to attack those anywhere in the vicinity. They were dead within minutes-due to the flies gnawing at them, and passing on disease that they carried. A few innocent bystanders were victims of this attack as well, but Erica got out of there as quickly as she could, unsure of what exactly happened.

Name: Carmen Rivera (aka Famine)
Ability: Gluttony Inducement
- The ability to induce hunger and extremes of gluttony in others such as over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items to the point of extravagance or waste
- Limits: The area of influence is not unlimited and does not last forever. The ability is extremely draining if used on a large group of people.
“It’s funny how much people starve themselves from the simplest of pleasures.”
Carmen had a voracious appetite growing up. Her family was rather wealthy so the cooks were used to making more food than necessary for every meal. What nobody ever expected was for the Rivera’s lovely daughter to gobble down a good majority of the food every single day. At first, her parents thought it was cute for her to be so interested in good food and even called her their future connoisseur. She became a stocky little girl over time. Her weight had separated her from the other kids in her private school who all looked down on her and often laughed at her for her compulsion to eat all the time. Despite all this, she was still a girl with big aspirations since she always felt like she was meant to do big things in the world. She wanted to be a star and get her name out in the world but due to her weight she never got very far with her dreams.
When she entered her mid teenage years, her eating habits landed her in the hospital. Even when she was in there she still felt the needs to eat. The doctors had told the kitchen staff and nurses to restrict her meals to a strict schedule so she wouldn’t overindulge but she kept crying that she was starving. It was then that the eclipse came, causing her abilities to manifest and displacing her constant hunger onto others around her.
Carmen was frightened by all the sudden changes in her life. None scared her more than waking up in a cell within the Company. Due to her constant efforts to sneak past the guards and escape, she was often sedated and locked up. They even gave her a special sound proof cell because she never knew when to shut up. This behavior caught the attention of War. Even though the two of the fought often, they earned each others’ respect and decided to stick together. Since their escape from the facility though, she has been living life without inhibitions. If she saw something she wanted, she would do whatever it took to get it. She didn’t care what means she had to go through to obtain it. After being restrained by her eating disorders then the Company, she was fed up with not living the life she wanted. Out of all the Horsemen, she is closest to Death. She has known War the longest but the two of them always fight, both verbally and physically.
Significant Event in Life:
Carmen was passed out during the solar eclipse so when she woke up to see that all the weight had disappeared, she thought it was some sort of miracle. She no longer felt the insistent need to feed upon every hour of the day. She felt livelier and more energetic. The first thing she did was jump out of her hospital bed and run into the bathroom mirror to look at herself. Little did she know that her ability had manifested and a few number of people within the hospital were either binging themselves full of food or doing another extreme things to satisfy their “hunger.”
